Summer is the perfect time to switch up your daily snacking and try something new. So many fruits and foods are in season and more accessible during summer. Try these snack ideas for a fun twist in your routine!
Snack Idea #1: Banana and Fruit “Ice Cream”
Ice cream is a sweet treat at any time, and this version is healthier and fruitier than it’s dairy counterpart! In a food processor or high-power blender, blend completely frozen bananas to make a basic ice cream snack. It may be necessary to add a few tablespoons of liquid like water, milk, or almond milk to blend smoothly. Give this summer treat an upgrade by adding fruits like strawberries, raspberries, mango, cocoa/cacao powder, or honey!
Snack Idea #2: Grilled Watermelon and Broiled Peaches
If you have a little time to cook, you can turn a sweet fruit to a savory snack by cooking it! The fruit’s sugars will become caramelized, enhancing the flavors. Put slices of watermelon on the grill or broil peaches to achieve this treat. Start with five minutes, and adjust depending on your fruit, preference, and method.
Snack Idea #3: Frozen Fruit
These snacks are really fast, really simple, and really delicious. Freeze sweet summer fruits like watermelon, strawberries, grapes, bananas,raspberries, blueberries, or mango. You can dress these up to serve to friends by putting them on skewers, adding popsicle sticks, cutting shapes into the fruit, or decorating with the colorful fruit.
